HS-320: Mind-Body Health: Physical Exercise and Mental Health Report

In HS-320 I was able to research stress and how it negatively affects the body. In my research, I discovered new ways to alleviate stress on the body and exercise is one of the ways that people can accomplish a stress-free life. Exercising daily for at least 30 minutes is a great way to alleviate the daily stressors in a person’s life. When paired with a healthy diet, exercising is very effective in maintaining a healthy heart and even a healthy immune system. From cardio, weightlifting, to yoga and other alternatives to exercise, I was able to compare and contrast different methods of fitness to understand which was best and which was least helpful. It was very interesting to research the different methods of biohacking and fitness methods. In my own life exercise has been one of the best therapies I could ask for. I stay fit for my own job and for my own mental health as my job can be very stressful at times. I encourage everyone to assess their lives and see where they can fit physical activity in on a daily basis so that they too can live a long, pain-free, and enjoyable life.

HS-410 Organization and Administration in Health Services: Discussions

In HS-410 I was able to discuss issues in Health Administration with my fellow classmates over the semester. This experience was insightful in so many ways as my classmates came from a spectrum of healthcare careers. Some of my classmates were involved in clinical healthcare, some paramedics like me, and some worked in medical imaging and even administration. I gained a lot of perspective throughout the semester on different jobs in healthcare and the frustrations and positive aspects of these jobs. I have since been able to apply this information and experience to my own healthcare career and better understand the other care providers and administrative staff that I work with on a daily basis. Being able to understand my counterparts has been vital in working together as a team to accomplish a common goal. Without this information, I would still be left wondering what these other careers within healthcare entailed.
